In all honesty, I was completely overwhelmed when searching the internet for a furniture and junk removal company in Manhattan. There were just so many options! However, I just decided to go with 1-800-GOT-JUNK because of their advertising on TV, etc. I actually started to fill out my info on their website to get a price quote on what I needed removed (it was very user friendly), however, I never submitted my request. I was just so overwhelmed (again), melancholy, and depressed about moving after 24 years in my apartment. I just wasn't sure I was going to go through with it. Fast forward approximately one week later, and I was away on a business trip, and I called them for a quote. They had all my information saved and gave me a quote over the phone which was reasonable, affordable and what I was looking for, so I just decided to book the appointment. THE EXPERIENCE WAS ABSOLUTELY GREAT!! Manhattan is a tough place to do business for anyone, with tight side streets, no parking, and all kinds of apartment buildings. I live on the 6th floor of a 6th floor walk-up, too, which is no bargain for anyone in the moving business. Mark and Ely showed up at the scheduled time and could not have been more professional. They were quiet and respectful of my neighbors, and took great care in removing my stuff and preserving anything that could that looked like it could be donated to Good Will, etc. Furthermore, while placing the stuff outside on the sidewalk, they took the time to explain to any passerby asking questions about what happens to anything that could be salvageable and donated (remember, this was NYC). Seriously, these two young professionals were great! And they moved fast and efficiently, completing their task easily under two hours. Finally, when the bill came due, it was 100% accurate and right on the money with all the stuff I planned to have removed per the quote from the woman on the phone when I booked the appointment (I didn't get her name, but she was a total professional as well). No bait and switch, no upselling--no nothing! So, if you are looking for a furniture/removal junk company, these guys are it! Nothing was too big or small for them. I would absolutely use them again! They asked me to write a review for them, which I have never done for anyone, but I just felt compelled to do it this time. They were just that good and exceeded my expectations.
