I went to the appointment fearing I might need a hip replacement. Instead, it was recommended I begin with a course of action requiring only a limited supply of anti-inflammatory medications and a referral for physical therapy. No invasive surgery required; in fact, nothing was forced on me. I was told that if the recommended actions did not resolve the problem, I should return. I felt better almost immediately after leaving the appointment. My relief at receiving an assurance from the x-rays and the physician (who gave me plenty of his time) that there were no signs of hip injury, and that surgery most likely could be avoided put me in a positive frame of mind, which almost certainly contributed to my recovery.

I will agree my reason for the visit was accomplished however I left there with the feeling that other than the receptionist no one engaged me in conversation. I understand that another arthritic knee is routine but people in general like to be recognized by their individual life style activities and goals for treatment.
