Move-In Timeline --- Suite 226 at Brook Meadow VillageAustin, Texas (July–September 2025)Date Event / NotesJuly 31 (Thu) Lease agreement start date. I’ve paid the August’s rent of $1,375. According to the lease, this is the official move-in date.August 1 (Fri) At approximately 6:00 p.m., I picked up the apartment key and inventory form from Ashley, the front desk clerk. Ashley walked through the unit with me. During the walk-through, both Ashley and I observed that the unit was not in habitable condition, with the following issues: strong odor (likely from wet painting), dead cockroaches, dusty uncleaned windows. Ashley acknowledged the condition and stated that the unit would be re-cleaned.August 3 (Sun) I brought in my luggage but did not unpack or move in. The room remained exactly the same as on August 1—it had not been re-cleaned.August 4 (Mon) I sent an email to Ashley reporting the condition of the apartment in more detail, including: stagnant water in the dishwasher with a dead cockroach inside, moldy HVAC vents, dead cockroaches. I asked again for re-cleaning before I could fully move in.August 5 (Tue) I submitted the inventory form to Ashley via email. Ashley acknowledged receipt and confirmed she would walk through the unit again to inspect the condition.August 6 (Wed) My wife met with Ashley for a second walk-through of the unit. Ashley confirmed that are-cleaning would be scheduled for the following day, August 7, but said there would be no adjustment to the move-in date and no compensation or rent credit.August 7 (Thu) Re-cleaning of the apartment was scheduled by Ashley.August 8 (Fri) The moldy vents were replaced; dishwasher and refrigerator issues were identified for replacement on the upcoming Mon. (August 11).August 11 (Mon) Discussed with Ashley the replacements and fixing those issues; no timeline was provided, but it was suggested that I could move in while the dead cockroach and stagnant water remained inside the dishwasher. I sent Ashley an email asking for a timeline.August 12 (Tue) Ashley verbally agreed that both the dishwasher and fridge would be replaced on August 13, the following day.August 13 (Wed) No replacements.August 14 (Thu) Replaced a new fridge, which is good, and an old dishwasher with a clogged drain that made the floor overflow.August 15 (Fri) Ashley told me that the dishwasher replacement was missing a part their team had ordered, and it would arrive on the coming Mon., August 18.August 16 (Sat) I submitted the following list of needs to be fixed before I move in:Kitchen: Dishwasher, drains clogged, one drawer missing.Master room/bathroom: Closet ceiling light flickering, sink faucet stopper doesn’t work, bathtub no stopper, exhaust fan moldy.Guest bathroom: Bathtub faucet broken and does not work, no stopper, exhaust fan broken and noisy, drawers and shelf painting.Living room: Window broken and frame loose, gate door has a hole allowing pests.August 17 (Sun) With the hope of repairing the dishwasher, I moved in.August 18 (Mon) No repair of the broken dishwasher.August 19 (Tue) No repair.August 20 (Wed) The property manager promised to send a technician to check the broken exhaust fans at 2 p.m., but no one came. My 12-year-old child was hurt by hot water during a shower because of the broken faucet in the guest bathroom, which had been promised for repair two weeks earlier.August 21 (Thu) Reported the incident and urgent need to repair/replace the faulty faucet in the guest bathroom to the property manager at 9:20 a.m. No one came to repair.August 22 (Fri) Texted Ashley and asked for urgent repair at noon but got no reply. At 4:30 p.m., I visited Ashley in person. Ashley promised, after consulting her manager, that the dishwasher part had arrived and repairs would happen on Tue, August 26. Exhaust fans and other issues would also be addressed. Window repair was promised by end of the next week.August 26 (Tue) A new dishwasher was installed. Exhaust fans and other issues remained unresolved.August 29 (Fri) I paid the September’s rent of $1,375.August 30 (Sat) I reported remaining issues to the property manager. The manager said repairs would be done Tue, September 2.September 2 (Tue) No maintenance technician visited.September 3 (Wed) A cockroach was found and removed from the kitchen counter.

The guy who came over is very smart and knows what he's talking about (I assume, I didn't understand his technical stuff). Problem is my kitchen light is still burnt out because he couldn't find a way to unscrew the half globe thing, which means I still have to worry about a random morning or afternoon maintenance shows up at a random moment - which is always scary. But that guy listened and helped and was fast. I'd like to stress the guy is very smart and works hard but the kitchen light fixture thingy is stuck so tight he couldn't get it to move and he's a big strong guy. So I have no clue how that can be fixed. And leaves me worried about what will happen when the dining room area light burns out - which has nót happened yet.
