Very poor trade in price for my car- £1500 under what I traded it in at another dealership. No wiggle room on the car I test drove. The salesman wasn't very helpful with the car details or specs, as he didn't chat about the car at all throughout the test drive, which I found really strange and it was a negative for me. All communication was based on he's previous job in retail. As a customer I'm there to buy a car, and I get a rapport needs built up but this was excessive to the point where if the price to change my car was right, I wouldn't have made the deal. The dealer was probably coming from a genuine place and I get it but completely missed the mark of trying to sell me the car. I spent a test drive listening to him go through his previous employment and how good he was at it. Honestly it's not a good look for your business as it's brand damaging.

Very simple process and Ashling (apologies is that is spelt incorrectly) was very helpful.

Hi Paul / Sales Management Team,I am writing to formally set out my position under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 in relation to the BMW M4 (registration TFZ7692) purchased from Charles Hurst and collected on 3 April 2025.This matter is separate from, and not limited by, any warranty policy.Timeline and facts• Vehicle collected: 3 April 2025• Mileage at purchase: 56,789 miles• Drivetrain fault (injectors): 25 May 2025 (approx. 59,161 miles – under 2 months ownership)• Turbo / emissions fault (MIL): 59,512 miles• Total mileage at point of turbo/catalyst fault: 2,723 miles after purchaseThe vehicle developed multiple serious mechanical defects well within six months of sale, engaging the statutory presumption that the faults were present or developing at the time of sale, unless the retailer can prove otherwise.Independent diagnostics from BMW Naas and Fastrack Tyres confirmed turbocharger oil leakage causing emissions failure. These findings are consistent with a pre-existing defect.Legal positionUnder the Consumer Rights Act 2015, Charles Hurst, as the selling dealer, is responsible for supplying a vehicle of satisfactory quality and durability.Any third-party warranty:• Does not replace or limit my statutory rights• Does not cap Charles Hurst’s liability• Is irrelevant to your obligations under consumer lawI am not rejecting the vehicle.I am seeking a price reduction / reimbursement of repair costs, which is an expressly permitted remedy under the Act.Remedy soughtThe cost to rectify the defect and return the vehicle to a roadworthy condition is:• €12,951.01 (turbos and catalytic converters)For completeness, I have re-attached the BMW main dealer invoice confirming the full cost of repairAny payment made by the warranty provider (e.g. £2,000) will be treated strictly as a partial mitigation only, not a settlement of this claim.Next stepsPlease confirm within 7 days how Charles Hurst proposes to resolve this matter. If I do not receive a substantive response addressing your statutory liability, I will proceed to formal escalation without further notice.Kind regards,Dave Brown

The sales assistant appeared disinterested and the car we went to test drive had a known fault. We were advised to watch our speed as the electrics/ Speedo weren’t working properly

HiMy car was bought of used direct Belfast, it has a 2 year warranty repair cover. At the moment the car is in getting repairs it requires a new water/coolant pump. I understand with it being the holidays things can be slow I have been without a car over a week now as it was not drivable it was left to Charles hurst used cars in mallusk belfast on Monday, I have chased it up twice with the mechanics who have advised me he has processed images and details regarding the repairs needed on Monday and hasn’t received anything back from the warranty to get the go ahead and solve the problem, I received a message last night saying ‘a new claim has been submitted on your lookers auto warranty vehicle BW17***’Can this be chased up as to why nobody has got back to the mechanic to give the go ahead on these repairs? I’m also due to go on holiday at the weekend with my 2 children one being a baby to which the car is needed to travel around, at the moment the way things are looking I’m going to have to cancel and lose out on the money and the holiday! Many thanksDemi
