Serious upgrading needed. There hasn't been a picture in a hallway in a year. Very austere!Parking a problem when a simple solution would be to ask employees to park in the large parking lot on one side of the building. Visitors are at a disadvantage.

Columbia Place has been the best community for my mom. She has adapted much better than at other communities and everyone at Columbia is caring and awesome!

I would have liked to sit down with Manager on day one or two, to talk about what to expect. Like process of showering, shaving, making bed, doing laundry checking on patients at night. I really appreciate the staff so much, but not always sure who does what and when. My husband is adjusting, and the staff is so great with him. He is very verbal and mobile, suffers sundowners terribly. Also, would have liked daily updates from management for first week, was so worried about him. It has been a much better experience than I could have ever expected. I feel he is being well cared for; it is such a horrible disease with some very unexpected behaviors.

I am the daughter of one of the residents, and so far his experience has been really wonderful. We have only had some issues with him getting some of the care that was listed in his care plan, and he says that when he calls for someone to come if he needs support, it can take a while. When I have spoken to Juli about these concerns, they were addressed right away. He has otherwise had lovely interactions with staff, his space is wonderful, he has met and made new friends, and overall he is very happy.

You do a excellent job over all..But I must share an experience.. my mom was at the hospital. I came up to do some things in her room and I was with one of the administrators when we opened the door to her room, There were two young ladies in the room…. curtains pulled sitting on my mom‘s couch looking like they were trying to take a break or sneak a break. ??? this is not acceptable. It’ a matter of trust and integrity !!!!Thank you

My father, Sam Howell, passed July 24, 2025. The care was very good. The complaint I had since September 2024 until his death was the phone system at Columbia Place. When they changed owners from Summer Place to Columbia Place, their residential phone were no longer working. The new phone system displayed the outgoing number on caller ID's as the area code 385, not the actual phone area code of 971. The incoming area code of 385 was not recognized and the call was not recognized unless my father left a message. This issue was reported multiple times, monthly from September through my visit in April 2025 to multiple staff and administrators explaining and reporting the phone issues of not being able to leave messages and not having his contact number displaying an Oregon area code of 971, instead it calls displayed the area code of 385 on phone IDs.My father's birthday was February 17, 2025, on his 95th birthday and he did not received a single call. His family could not leave birthday greetings. He was alone on his birthday, no family members could reach him, leave greeting. Calls were made, he was not aware his family was trying to contact him. This lasted approximately seven (7) days, phone communication. In April 2025, I was able to meet with Evan Winslow, Executive Director and showed him what the Summer Place phone system displayed on my phone and explained this issues has been ongoing since September 2024 and his reaction was honest and heart felt. I had to show him what his personal call from Summer Place showed on my phone's ID and what happens when I return the call to the number displayed. He was not aware of the phone issues and tried to get the situation resolved; upon my fathers passing, it was never resolved. My father's health started to decline rapidly after his birthday, he said he felt alone, no one cared and he was gone on July 24, 2025.The staff at Columbia Place were kind, some of the medical staff that I interacted with were very protective over him, which was heart warming.TO: Columbia Place: The residents need a reliable phone service in their room that allows for messages to be left and their actual outgoing phone number to be displayed correctly. Sam Howell did not use or like cell phones, they were not compatible to his needs, which in turn frustrated him, and therefore not useful. Your phone system left he feeling increasingly isolated and alone and I believe the breaking point occurred on his birthday.Would I suggest Summer Place to others after my father's experience?
