My mother was in the assisted-living area for approximately 2 1/2 years and was very happy there. I would give 5 stars for her experience there. Once she moved to memory care, our experience changed. Her hearing aid went missing while she was quarantined in her room for Covid. I was told she has dementia and it was probably put in a drawer. If that were the case, it would have been found in a drawer. When her quarantine was over she was moved to a different room. During the move, her lower denture, which was kept in a locked cabinet went missing. I was told she has dementia and probably threw it out accidentally. As she had not been wearing the lower denture because it needed to be adjusted by her dentist and it was kept in a locked cabinet, I find this hard to accept. When I was told my mother was experiencing increased falls at certain times during the day, my family hired a one-to-one aid eight hours a day. I was then told she was getting up during the night and falling and we could hire a 24 hour aid which is incredibly expensive or move her to the Bethlehem facility which had to be done almost immediately, before the holidays. I visited her the day after she was moved to the Bethlehem facility and began unpacking her boxes. Many of her clothes are missing, including new ones with tags on them that she had received for her birthday and never worn. I was told it would be looked into, and never received a reply, except an email saying someone would look into it. The fact that mostly new clothing items went missing in a simple move leads me to believe they were stolen, which is bad enough, but when the entire incident is ignored, it leaves a very bad impression of the facility.

Multiple move in personnel (several residents at a time) makes it difficult to procure move in carts and flat beds. A designated move in door other than the front entrance nearer to the elevator.

It was overwhelming. Almost a “parade” of staff people coming into the apartment introducing themselves all at the same time the maintenance guys were installing the tv and we were putting personal things in closets and drawers. Perhaps introductions could be spaced out throughout the day to make it easier to absorb and adjust. Although I may add that everyone had smiles and welcoming!

The only comment my aunt ever made was the aides were not always prompt and some of them probably did not care for what they were doing. Yes, they helped her when needed.
