i had taken my car (2014 acura mdx) to village exxon for an inspection. it failed and i was told that the struts needed to be replaced as well as some kind of arm. in addition, they added a bunch of other stuff that i needed to get done, all of which totaled $4,000!i called chris and he told me that independent stations frequently fail these cars and he'd take a look at it for me.he told me after inspecting it that the struts were leaking but he could pass the car but i would eventually need to replace them. he also explained why this had happened (potholes, uneven roads) and that as the leaking struts further declined, i would notice more shaking and instability.when i asked him about the other stuff exxon had noticed that was listed, he looked at my service record and told me i had already taken care of all those items at my last scheduled service. so all those items were fine. and the arm was fine too.he also answered the question that was front of my mind - if this was his car, would he do the work and continue driving it it look at selling it?he said he sees these same cars with 200k miles (mine was just shy of 114k) and so the investment was worth it. i authorized the struts to be replaced and the car seems great to me. what i always want to know is the safety issues that arise from problems with my car. and chris arnold explained that to me succinctly and with appropriate commentary so i could understand the issues and make an informed decision. i'm very grateful!
