I was a customer of CubeSmart for three years and it was the most disappointing experience I have had with a company in a long time. I strongly suggest that people looking for a self-storage unit avoid this company and consider all the other options. Here is a summary of my experience.• The initial monthly rate for a 10x10 storage unit (2nd floor and away from the elevator) was $148.85 (January 2022). The rate when I terminated my contract - November 15, 2025 - was $435.00. CubeSmart increases their rates on a yearly basis and the increases are significant and non-negotiable.• During the recent Federal government shutdown, I contacted CubeSmart to request a deferment of a payment and they refused to cooperate. I spoke with the manager of the location where my unit was located; as well as customer service (several times); and a District Manager by the name of Michael Jones.• Payment for my unit was due on November 8th. Despite my request for the company to defer the payment due until the Federal government shutdown was resolved, I received a notice on November 14, indicating that my payment was late; a late fee had been applied to my account; my entry code was disabled and my unit was locked until I made full the payment due, in full.I terminated my contract and emptied my storage unit on November 14th and moved my belongings to one of CubeSmart's competitors.CubeSmart lost me as customer who was in good standing because they were so unbelievably unfriendly and unwilling to negotiate deferment of one monthly payment.

Great customer service

Excellent customer support phone service, coupled with automated check in, had me in my unit in no time on a Sunday when the office was closed. The only issue is that the price is too high and could be more competitive.

Unit was leaking water. Pricing is way more than competitors.
