The workers are great but the supposed climate control storage units I rented were NOT climate controlled and caused mildew to start growing on many pieces of furniture and items. In just three months there a chair had so much mildew I just had them throw it away. Not only do the units have open ceilings and vents but when it rains the floors seep with water through the seams and cracks in the foundation. It’s hot and humid in the buildings. They said the company has the AC guys set the temperature at 80 degrees. But yet the office is freezing.

Why a 5?Buckle up. This review is going to be a long one. But I ended up being locked inside your facility that night. That, was longer. My rating is mostly because of Larry, on the negative side. And being trapped inside the facility - as I mentioned. But the owner and 2 stellar employees on the phone, on the positive side, keep this from being a 1.The whole experience was literally a nightmare.I had rented the largest truck that U-Haul had. And when I asked someone on the phone how to access the building to get to my unit, she gave me the wrong directions and had me drive all the way to the entrance gate. And then essentially argued with me about what I was seeing. She said, "Sir, I'm looking at a picture of the building, you are right next to the sliding glass doors." I said, "Ma'am, I'm looking at the actual building. There are no doors." That went around four times before she finally transfered me to someone who knew the truth. After that awful start, I had to reverse that truck and back up the entire length of the building. Then try to make a U-turn in a parking lot not designed for a U-turn like that, with your air conditioners in the way, a random van, two random trailers on one end of the parking lot in the back, and two more on the other. None of them close to each other really. Making it almost impossible to make a U-turn. In reverse. But not only was this second woman correct, she was amazing. She was very patient while I tried to maneuver that, and she sent me to the right spot. When I went through the sliding/doors on the opposite side of the building, I approached a door for the climate-controlled area. And my code did not work. So I called again. That's when I first encountered Larry. He gave me a different code to try, and it failed, repeatedly. After some time, I tried my original code again, and for no reason I can explain, it worked. Then my son called from the front gate because he had arrived to help me. Once again, my code no longer worked. He couldn't get in.I called again, Larry answered again. This call ended with Larry mocking me. Twice.Be aware I have been renting storage units since the late '80s. I've never had this much trouble in my life. Even though I have two other storage units currently. One with Public Storage and one with Extra Space. For many, many years I have used codes at the gate or my cell phone. But I've never rented a space that is climate controlled.Because of my troubles, and because I was about to start moving, I propped the door open for the climate controlled area. Understandable, since my code and Larry's code were unreliable. And I needed to be finished by 10. More on that, later...I asked Larry if it needed to be closed first, and he laughed at me. "Well yeah! Obviously!" I really didn't appreciate that.I closed that door, and still could not get my son in.Larry said, incredulously, "How can we let you in, when you're already are in??" I explained that I was not asking him to let me in. I was asking him to let my son in to help me unload a 26 foot truck.I remembered from the previous conversation with the very nice lady, that the reason I had to back up the truck was because I could not exit both gates and enter both gates. And I was facing the entrance at that time. Realizing that I was standing next to a key code pad for the exit now, I came up with a plan.I made a three-way call to my son, with Larry still on the line. Larry was continuing to insist it was not going to work, my son couldn't get in. But I knew a way.I entered my code on the exit gate, stood in front of the gate to hold it open, and told my son to drive over there. It worked. So I hung up on Larry, after telling him that if I had any more trouble I would call back. Here's where it gets worse. In fact, here's where it gets borderline criminal in my opinion. Am I over exaggerating? Possibly. You decide. But what Larry suggested next borderlines on kidnapping. I was livid. And, I was beginning to experience a medical episode. We did everything we could humanly do to be out of there by 10:00. Because another nice person earlier in the day told me, and I quote, "We prefer that you leave the property close to 10:00."We finished at probably 10:05, maybe slightly earlier. We were cleaning out the truck, positioning the ramp, and were ready to leave by 10:10 or so. Not quite 10:15.My code wouldn't work at the gate. We couldn't leave. It did say something about leaving late. But are you kidding me? You're going to lock me in? You're going to force me to spend the night? Because I'm 5 or 10 minutes late? Really?Surely the answer is no. So I called again. You'll never guess who answered.Larry.And this, this right here is so egregious, that you need to probably give him some time off. Maybe a lot of time. In fact I wouldn't have him work for you anymore because he represents you. And here's what he told me.After mocking me again, he basically had the attitude of 'serves you right!' He let me know that I wasn't going to be leaving. Not by car. And not with the truck. Which was due back at the U-Haul facility. He told me to leave the truck and leave my son's car behind. And walk out of there. Basically walk home.I know, technically not kidnapping because we could have walked out of there. But keeping our vehicles overnight, that didn't feel right. And I was in no condition to walk anyway. Not for the next 4 hours to get home.On top of that, we were in Arlington, and my son and his wife live in East Dallas. So that was not an option. How could anyone possibly say that? I'm a brand new customer. This is my first day and now my first night at your facility. And we were trapped. And to add insult and injury, to more insult and injury, Larry hung up on me!But he didn't make it obvious. He said, "Let me check with the property manager." And then he transferred me to a voicemail! He left me!It's now after 10:30 p.m. We left a message with management, knowing it would not be heard until morning.By the way, I was in the middle of a sentence when Larry hung up on me.I was letting him know that I was suffering the beginnings of a heat stroke. (Which would be my 12th in my lifetime. I'm 65. My first heatsroke was when I was in my 30's.) But Larry didn't even give me a chance to say any of that. He just, hung up. Mid sentence. So Larry's plan was to allow me to experience a medical emergency, and be stranded. Are you sure you want Larry working for you? I'm sure. I know what I would do.But, we called back again, and got hold of someone who refused to hang up until we got help. He was on the phone with my son for 15 to 20 minutes. And he actually did contact management, he didn't just say he was going to.Oh, and during this time, everyone kept giving us that code that Larry had given me earlier that failed continuously. This gentleman gave us 10 or 12 more codes, and they all failed. At the end of the call, he said he had reached the owner, and that he would be there in an hour. To be honest, I wasn't positive I could make it an hour. The owner arrived about 40 minutes later. During that time I hydrated, I ate, and I sat in my son's car because the truck gas tank was nearly empty. So I couldn't use the U-Haul's amazing air conditioner for long. And my son's AC didn't work very well. The owner finally arrived just after 11:30 p.m. almost and hour and a half after we Should have been allowed to leave. He and his wife Could Not have been nicer, or more apologetic. I think the world of Robert and his wife.He explained to me that the codes should have worked, and he was going to investigate that night, before he left and went back home, as to why they didn't. He drove a long way to get there. And had a long drive back home ahead of him.So thanks to Robert, the gentleman who spoke wiht my son for up to 20 minutes, and the wonderful young lady with great patience, I will keep that unit. And give CubeSmart another chance,But I can not overstate Larry's horrible approach of abandoning us, and leaving us stranded. Which nearly led to me calling 911.

From the moment I walked into CubeSmart Self Storage until I returned the keys to the complimentary moving van, my experience was outstanding. The two customer service representatives I'll refer to as M & M went above and beyond to make me feel like a valued customer. They were friendly, professional, and checked in throughout the process to make sure I had everything I needed.Their exceptional customer service made what could have been a stressful experience smooth and enjoyable. If you're looking for a clean, well-managed storage facility where the staff genuinely cares about its customers, I highly recommend this CubeSmart location. Your valuables will be in great hands! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
