I got the storage unit as I was getting out of a domestic violence situation and having an actual stalker an ex who was a stalker. The woman who manages the storage unit, literally gave him my passcode and let him enter the storage unit whenever it was fully in my name. Never once did she apologize for thatalso multiple times we were charged in an additional amount and asked for a credit back and they would not give it to us. We did not like our time at the storage unit at all, and there was one girl that we liked moved out to the office, she was the only reason we would’ve ever stayed at the storage unit,but the fact that somebody would allow a stalker ex-boyfriend into my storage unit to put a bunch of stuff in there and to take items of mine is actually insane and is the whole reason people have issues and safety regarding storage of their items when they’re leaving a relationship.She needs to put the safety of renters at the forefront and ask for somebody’s ID or call the person who storage unit it is before allowing somebody else to access their unit.Just because someone has the persons code and sweet talked to the front desk does not mean they are allowed to get into my unit. Very upset and grossed out by the place, I’ve asked for a refund multiple times !!!!would still like to have a refund for my last month herejust to make up for all the nonsense I had to deal with, but they’re such cheapskates. I doubt they will do it.

After 7 years, only a few times, the air conditioning was not working and was not fixed in a timely fashion. We the storage renters were not notified and if we had any perishables would have lost those items. Also, some rat infestation with lots of rat droppings. Otherwise, a 9.

The automated reservation system was simple and easy for me to select May 6 2026 as my preferred date for lease start. After reserving this date with a acknowledgment that a representative from the unit would call and confirm that date, I received an automated message prompting me to move forward with signing the lease. The draft lease said nothing about a specific start date, so I was under the impression that the start date would be the May 6th date listed in the confirmation emails. When the representative called on April 25 to confirm the reservation, I was made aware that the lease started the day of me signing, which was April 24th. The representative said they would elevate to their manager to see if the lease start date could be adjusted. On April 28, the representative called me back and said that the manager was unable to adjust the lease time. When I asked for a cancellation and a refund in order to establish a new lease with a start date of May 6th, the representative notified me that they would not be able to approve a refund of the inappropriate booking charge starting the date of April 24. They acknowledged that they did see my request for May 6th on there and but "that their system would not allow a refund of the $45 booking fee." To emphasize, I wanted to create a CORRECTED lease with my requested May 6 start date. After being refused by the representative and their manager, I canceled my booking and no longer felt comfortable proceeding with doing business with CubeSmart because of the misleading provisions in the lease and the automated reservation system. I am only giving a 2 because I worked with a online customer service representative to elevate this refund request to the district manager. I'm hopeful that there can still be a resolution given my concerns that the lease signing process was misleading.

The storage was fine but as a long-term, trouble-free tenant, I was very unhappy about the constant rental increases. I caused no problems and seldom accessed my unit, and yet, my rent kept going up and up. It was well past the rate of inflation by the time I emptied the unit. I can't afford that!
