Considering what the rates started at and what they quickly became, comparatively, there are many other better deals in the area. While it is considered to be climate controlled, yes, it is cooler than the hottest day outside but it’s by no means comfortable. There were also bugs in the unit. On several visits, there was not a cart to be found so I had to load everything individually-not easy for an arthritic 70 year-old woman. People must be closing them into their units or stealing them. To add insult to injury, after busting my rear end to get everything out, I was told that there is no proration. And yes, I was told that it was in the contract but I have never encountered that before so I must’ve missed that. I have three more smaller units there and I can’t empty them fast enough. One of them has a faulty fixture where the lock goes. I reported it to the office, but nothing was offered in the way of help until, thankfully, a kind customer who was also in the office offered to help me.We’ve rented in other places in St.Johns County, as well as Flagler and none jacked the rates up as significantly as CubeSmart and they also prorated from the day you were out. When I called the central number, not the state Road 206 facility, I was told that raising the rent was a “standard business practice”. To almost $300 a month? Funny, not a business practice shared by the other storage companies we’ve worked with.The only positive note is the lady that works in the office. She was kind and gracious and certainly understood my frustration - she was just doing what she was told to do.
