I was told to pay as far ahead as possible because my rate would go up (a friend told me this, not an employee) when my next payment was due, and most people could not move their stuff out and would have to pay the increased price. This is exactly what happened. I was able to move out and avoid the upcharge. Vey shady practice. Quote me a price and stick with it. Be transparent with your pricing. Never again!
