Check in was horrible. Waited a long time before even being acknowledged. I counted at least three times it looked like people walked past me and actively avoided eye contact. I get that appearances can be deceiving...but that was AFTER I actually started counting. Wait time to be acknowledged...AFTER I realized it was taking awhile and started timing it, about four minutes. Once acknowledged, time to get a service advisor? About another 5 minutes. And the service advisor I was "given" wasn't the one that came out and quickly checked me in. So I didn't really go over any of my concerns and just told them to do the oil change and get it over with. That was a very bad start. I WAS told earlier when I called for an appointment to expect an oil change to take about 2 hours. So the time waiting for completion is not an issue. I was advised pro-actively and expecting. it. Once completed, the service advisor flagged me down after I was paged (I apparently had that lost look that said, 'which of these guys is my guy'! He got me checked out and got me to my van. He mentioned that there would be a survey and that if it wouldn't be all 10's, to let him know. I told him that there was no way I could give all 10's in good faith, and that, in all fairness, none of it was really his fault. All the issues I had happened before we even met. To his credit, and the reason I am giving an Excellent rating is he shifted into customer friendly damage control immediately. He offered a free oil change for the next time I needed one. I considered my annoyance and inconvenience vs the level of compensation he was offering, and I came to the conclusion that was a more than fair offer. So, the service advisor did a good job of salvaging an otherwise unsatisfactory experience. This was not reflective of my normal experience. Perhaps it's a side effect of the remodeling uprooting everybody's routine. I know that has to be a challenge. Speaking of which, I suspect senior management needs to work on...moral, esprit de corp, whatever you want to call it. I know the service department is always pretty busy and generally rushed. And often they are explaining additional repairs or services...meaning additional monies...to people (often that could be me) that don't want to spend more money! And that gets to be something of a beat down. But usually, the atmosphere is still more upbeat than what I experienced last Thursday. The feeling on the floor was even worse. The folks there seem to be in need of an influx of positivity, for lack of a better word. This is something that can't just be insisted on...because false positivity quickly fails. But it feels...a little oppressive. Some of that is this is probably related to the remodeling. The physical atmosphere is much more...sterile? Don't like that word, but it's like being in an OLD government building. That will get better. But the spirit...I would suggest it needs work.
