The website and application showed a larger square footage apartment available. I selected the larger apartment in my application, but upon arrival was notified it wasn’t available. I was moving from out of state and was relying on the website pictures of the larger unit for reference. To be fair, I signed the lease without viewing the apartment, since I was coming from out of state. I thought selecting the square footage on the application ensured that was the unit I was getting. The leasing agent said she told me multiple times about the square footage, but I don’t believe that was clearly stated.I’m happy with my unit now, but the experience wasn’t great. It also took about two weeks for my application to finalize because the system wouldn’t accept my offer letter for income verification. I was told the manager could override this, but after several days of waiting, I eventually just submitted a new application, which went through in a couple of days. The leasing team was respectful throughout the process, but I expected quicker follow-through. It also would’ve been helpful to be provided with a printout of basic information at move-in (mailbox #, how to pay rent, how to get into the laundry room, etc). Some of this was verbally mentioned.I understand management is new and Deerfield is probably still working out some of the bugs in the system. I appreciate the team was respectful during the process but would love to see the process improved for future residents.
