I requested a phone call, but no one actually picked up the phone to call me. Instead, I got a message back from the admin, which isn’t exactly clear if the billing issue is resolved.

The staff at all levels of Diana Health have been kind, courteous, and respectful. My problem was two things regarding financial planning expectations, both I think could be resolved if Diana Health implemented financial reviews, especially for patients who have insurance coverage with Diana but not in the delivering hospital. My first issue is that I couldn’t get FSA reimbursement for my global charges, due prior to the completion of all services, because Diana Health can’t provide an itemized receipt of the services until the services are complete which prevents FSA reimbursement. The second issue is that I’m getting mixed messages between the hospital finance coordinator and Diana Health about the expenses owed. If there was a meeting with a financial counselor or specific documents to set expectations around financial planning for patients beyond the global estimates, I would have had clear financial planning from the start and made different decisions like paying with an FSA debit card.

I was refused any and all care despite my symptoms and concerns because I was honest and voiced that I was wanting to do a home birth. I’m on Medicaid and cannot afford labs out-of-pocket and I’m concerned I have anemia again like my previous pregnancy. I was told when making the appointment that it would be no problem doing it as dual care so insurance covers my labs. But, after waiting an hour and a half past my appointment time yesterday, I was denied any care. My husband is finishing up his senior year with an 18 hour semester, internship, and work all 30 minutes away from our home in opposite directions. I work part-time from home and watched our toddler full-time. Because of a wreck we were in this year, we are down to one vehicle and juggling car shopping. It was very hard to finagle our schedules to be able to manage me to come to an in person visit. My husband had to be very late to something because of it. I did not feel cared for or seen as a person or that my time and life circumstances with something worth valuing. I was told the reason for my care refusal was because somehow they would be liable for the birth, even though I would not be using them. This does not make sense because it is way more likely to be sued by someone if something goes wrong that could’ve been treated if they were not denied care. I am now scrambling to find a way to use my insurance to get the care I feel like I need for my health concerns. Diana Health claimed to be holistically minded, but when I honestly shared that I was planning a holistic path for my birth, I was blacklisted and refused to care that I know I need to have a healthy baby and pregnancy. I asked if I changed my mind and decided to come to all of the prenatals and say I’m using them as my primary care if that would change me being able to get labs done. They said because they already know that I am wanting a home birth that they would not believe me and do not want me to use them up until birth and then not use them for the birth. So even if I changed my mind and did not feel safe with homebirth anymore because of complications, they would not believe me and take me on as a client again. So at 31 weeks pregnant, instead of being supported for making my own decisions as a patient, I was made to feel stupid and left the office in tears.

I’ve experienced repeated and ongoing issues with scheduling and overall care at this practice. On multiple occasions, staff claimed they had called me when they had not, and I was scheduled for appointments that I never agreed to or confirmed worked for my availability. Appointments were also canceled without my knowledge sometimes the same day while I was already preparing to leave. Their system requires you to confirm appointments by 4:30 PM the day prior or they cancel it, even if you are working and unable to respond in time. At the same time, they threaten a $100 fee if you miss an appointment, which feels inconsistent and unfair. There is also a clear lack of continuity of care. You rarely see the same provider twice, and the experience feels very disorganized. The environment often feels like patients are an inconvenience, and while a few staff members are kind and clearly care about their work, many do not, and it shows in how patients are treated.Scheduling is also highly inefficient. Appointments frequently involve long wait times, sometimes hours between ultrasounds and office visits, which is extremely inconvenient especially during pregnancy.During my delivery, my experience with the midwife was concerning. While I was pushing, she briefly came in, made a discouraging comment about my lack of progress, and then told staff to call her back when the baby was closer to delivery. This was both disheartening and inappropriate. Thankfully, the nurses advocated for me, reassured me that I was progressing well, and encouraged her to stay. Within minutes, the baby had moved significantly, and she had to return. I’m very grateful for the nurses, as their support made a significant difference.More concerning, however, was the documentation and handling of my postpartum hemorrhage. My blood loss was charted significantly lower than what actually occurred. I lost at least a liter of blood, required manual clot extraction, and a JADA device was used, yet it appears this was not properly documented as a postpartum hemorrhage. I later experienced a loss of consciousness requiring a rapid response, and my hemoglobin dropped to 7.1, just above the threshold for transfusion. I strongly believe that if my blood loss had been accurately documented and communicated, earlier intervention could have prevented the severity of my condition.Additionally, there were discrepancies in basic details—such as the recorded time of birth being documented as 12 PM when I delivered at 8 AM. My hemorrhaging had already begun prior to the midwife’s involvement, and the lack of accurate communication between staff was alarming.Even postpartum, the same scheduling issues continue. I recently received a notification that my appointment had been canceled and rescheduled without my input, and again, no one contacted me directly.Overall, this experience has been frustrating and, at times, unsafe. While there are a few excellent nurses and midwives who genuinely care, the system as a whole is disorganized, lacks accountability, and does not prioritize patient-centered care. I cannot recommend this practice based on my experience.

I had an absolutely horrific birth experience at Tri Star StoneCrest. I can’t believe Diana healthcare chooses to partner with such a terrible hospital.I was denied the birth experience I wanted, for no reason, forced into procedures I didn’t want & have suffered injuries that have left me barely able to walk, in extreme pain every day & have made it very difficult to care for my newborn.
