I was asked to provide a fuller response to my Google review. My previous car was the first that I had obtained as a lease. I was therefore unfamiliar with the process involved in terminating the lease and obtaining a new contract.Earlier in 2025 I signed a contract at Audi indicating my wish to obtain a new car when the lease ended. From July or possibly August I was in receipt of several phone calls exhorting me to end the lease early to take up the new car. I eventually indicated my willingness to do so in late October. I had planned a holiday in November and thought to arrange the car transfer in advance.I did receive a letter from Vokswagen Finance asking me to indicate my intentions re the old car.Naively as it turns out I had assumed that since I had agreed a new contract with Audi (Audi Finance) this would not be necessary.I arranged to obtain the new car on 24th October. Although I had been promised the financial documents some two weeks before this date they were not forthcoming.I had therefore to go to the Audi Garage on 24th October to sign the documents. It was only at this point that I was made aware that I should have arranged the return.of the old car via BCA.I am told that it could have been done on the same day as I obtained the new car at the Audi Garage by prior agreement. In the end Mr Scot Simpson delivered the new car to me on the afternoon of 24th October. When I telephoned BCA the first pick up date was 4th November. I was then faced with extra car insurance for one and a half weeks to cover the previous car.The situation worsened in that BCA were unable to meet the required pick up time.I was worried about having to extend the car insurance again . I telephoned Mr Simpson again and on his advice contacted Volkswagen Finance. Their complaints department established that BCA were now responsible for the insurance.A new date for pick up was agreed for 6th November and this went ahead.I do appreciate now that I should have taken the intiative in terminating the lease of the old car. I presume that the information would the have been given re the process had I done so.However I find it strange that I was not provided with any information about it by Audi staff.I think that in the time I agreed a new contract I received letters informing me that my identified sales person had changed at least 2 or 3 times. Mr. Simpson who was ultimately responsible seems to have taken over only a few weeks before the exchange. He was ultimately very helpful but as I say as someone unfamiliar with leasing cars I think that the staff at Audi should have a responsibility to explain the process.I released early to obviate any stress re my holiday in November. In the end it was resolved only 4 days prior to departure.Margaret Malcolm
