We are extremely understaffed when the census should be 10 patients per tech. We are not given the correct amount of staffing considering the circumstances; if you prefer two techs during patient transportation, then there are no techs left on the unit. It is unsafe for us to have only two techs for most of the shift. There should be a minimum of three, if not four, MHTs on the unit per shift. I have also observed, as an MHT, that there is a dangerous level of understaffing for the nurses as well. I have seen several times that only one nurse is on the unit for an entire 12-hour shift with the whole patient population. Our safety does not seem like a priority when we are not properly staffed.

It’s obvious that management plays favorites with certain employees, regardless of how said employees act or treat others. I’ve never worked in a more toxic environment than at HBH. I don’t feel I can go to management about anything because it’s always ignored. Management doesn’t support employees.

Quicker and more efficient transportation to off-unit groups has stood out to me in the last couple of months. Efficiency has declined in my opinion.

The lobby/ intake area/entrance to OP is a safety risk area. Any disgruntled patient could come in and hurt people. I think metal detectors at these entrances could mitigate this.

Having access to the things we need in the area we’re working. Sometimes what we need is not always available so it makes it kind of hard to do our job well or as well as we can or could.
