HomeServe is an absolutely professional company with fantastic staff and a great work ethic. They were quick to respond and contacted our requested repair company without hesitation. The work by Douglas & Son Services was completed quickly and the staff member explained each step that he was taking to correct the problem.Would definitely recommend HomeServe to others.

I am in a plumbing crisis. Days with no plumbing, waiting on a determination to dig (Saturday 10-28 until now Wednesday 11-1). No idea of when a decision will be made. Trying to be present at work daily and not jeopardize my employment). Complete apathy and indifference and I am more than reasonable to everyone involved in this process. Have been a HomeServ customer for many, many years and never utilized any benefit but have paid without fail.

After receiving a notice from California Water that there was a leak at our water main along the street (at the lever on the customer side), we contacted Home Serve. Downey Plumbing was contracted and came out. The plumber was shown the notice from Cal Water with the specific location of the leak. After looking at the area that Cal Water indicated was leaking (and showed obvious evidence of a leak), the plumber decided the leak had to be associated with the sprinkler system in the front yard. He requested a leak detection company come out, which they did 2 days later. The leak detection company said there was no leak related to our sprinklers, but was indeed at the water main. This was reported back to Downey Plumbing. For some reason, the plumber at Downey reported back to Home Serve that the issue was not at the water main as Cal Water AND the leak detection company had reported, but that it was rather with the sprinkler system. A rep from Home Serve called me to say that the irrigation system is not covered by our insurance coverage, and thus they would not cover any repairs. We explained the whole situation to the rep, and she became argumentative and said she had to go with the recommendation of the plumber from Downey only. I asked to speak with a supervisor, and was told one would call me back. After waiting 2 days with no return call, my husband called and spoke with a 'supervisor' who advised they would look into it and get back to us. After waiting 2 days and growing increasingly more and more frustrated with the lack of communication and competence from Home Serve, I called again and asked to speak with a supervisor. Luckily, a very helpful gentleman named Daniel asked me to explain the issue. He advised me he would look into it personally and call me back. He actually did!! He was extremely patient, knowledgeable, helpful and willing to get to the bottom of the issue. He said he would send another plumbing company out for a second opinion. Frasica Plumbing had a plumber come out 2 days later, saw where the leak was ~ in the exact same spot that Cal Water had originally said it was. Within 1 hour, they diagnosed the problem, received approval from Home Serve to go ahead with the repair, and did the work. Why Downey Plumbing could not have taken care of this rather simple repair as this plumbing company did raises great question to their competence. I am very disappointed in how this whole issue was handled by Home Serve and Downey Plumbing. The only helpful, professional and knowledgeable representative we dealt with was Daniel. I am extremely grateful that he took the time to resolve this simple problem that turned into an unnecessarily complex and frustrating issue. Based on this experience, I give Home Serve the lowest rating possible and would not recommend them to anyone.
