Clinical Services should have adequate core staff that allows the teams to work without pressure to do the impossible and feel like your barely surviving as a staff member.

It won’t make a difference so I had better keep my opinions to self

Further the level of transparency between senior management and the rest of the staff as to decisions being made on behalf of the hospital. Suggestions from other staff should be accounted for and taken seriously into consideration.Rotating the unit schedule for groups may take away from the sense of daily consistency, but will add a sense of novelty and change, allowing the patients to engage in different groups. Some units may want their group at 9am, and other units may want their groups facilitated in the afternoon, and vice versa.

1) Working hard to improve communication between departments. The status of discharges is often not confirmed until shortly before, leading to transportation cancellations and tarnishing relationships with other hospitals in the area. Similarly, the units seem to have poor communication with patients and their families, especially in regard to picking up phones.2) Fully redo many systems and information in our computers. We have out of date information and trainings from years ago, when things worked very differently.3) Improve psychoeducation for staff members so they know how to manage patients that are mentally ill. Also, improving training opportunities in order to allow staff members to be up to date on providing quality care.I frequently see situations that I believe to be unsafe to patients. This includes poor restraint protocol, patients left waiting for hours due to understaffing, and language from staff that reflects a poor understanding of mental health treatment and the human nature of our work.
