I had knee arthroscopy this AM, with Dr Kevin Fricka, which was much easier than I'd expected. There was a bit of level 10 pain post-op, for just a few minutes; but my kind and caring nurse responded quickly. Right after she put a second shot in my IV, I walked and climbed up and down stairs! I was amazed that I could do it so soon.Right after surgery, I noticed the procedure had cured my shooting hamstrings pain (down the back of my leg). Instant relief post-op!Major reason for my quick recovery was Dr Fricka's awesome, muscle-saving procedure! He didn't cut my quadriceps muscle (big muscle that runs down to the knee in front of my leg - just it over. That'll make my recovery much less painful and probably months faster, than if any other total knee replacement procedure.had been used.Dr Shaw was my anesthesiologist. I had been dreading the spinal nerve block, but it wasn't bad at all the way he did it. Numbed me from waist down, so he only had to give me a light sedation. I was in recovery a very short time, my husband said. I have had problems before with anesthesia, but no trouble at all with Dr Shaw today!Wish I could give everyone from Cathy at check in (no wait at all), to all the kind, sweet, helpful professional nurses in pre-op/post op, and Dr Fricka, more than 5 stars! My surgery was at Harborside Ambulatory Surgical Center in Oxon Hill, Maryland, just across the river from Arlington. Great facility in a beautiful area.We stayed overnight, an easy, two-minute walk away, to avoid unpredictable morning traffic around the Woodrow Wilson Bridge, and I-95/495. Beautiful Potomac views and the Harbor's big ferris wheel too. We enjoyed our relaxing, delicious, seafood dinner at the Wharf Oyster and Ale. Lots of other good restaurants are near Harborside ASC too..Dr Fricka also had a schedule change, so they called to see if I could come over an hour earlier. I was ready to go, so were able to leave for home earlier and missed all rush hour traffic.Also, I loved Dr Fricka's free "Force" App with easy to perform physical therapy exercises, both before and post-op, which make recovery faster and easier. Those exercises also make the possibility of post-op blood clots much less likely. You just check off each one as you do it. So easy! There's a help desk if you have any questions using the app too.I bought the ENROUTE nutritional diet, but it was not required. It helps recovery, easy to use twice daily and helps recovery/ bone health. I only took one shake the night before surgery, because each pre-op shake is 50 Carbohydrates! So, if you're a diabetic you should probably consult your doctor - - before taking both packets the night before. Both packets would be like eating two more dinners, after a full dinner. for some diabetics. Otherwise, a great plan!I really wish I had arranged this procedure earlier. What a relief! The whole process could not have been easier or more pleasant! My fear was unnecessary. They do keep you busy pre and post-op, but you'll be glad they did! They have 24-hr emergency phone access, if you happen to have an emergency or questions too. Very rare these days!Thank you so much, Dr Fricka, and big thanks to all your team!

Dr. Fricka is the best knee surgeon around. I recommend him and the Anderson Clinic whenever I run into people with orthopedic issues, especially knees. I now have 2 knee replacements and play competitive tennis on average 4 days a week.
