- Provide alcohol-based hand sanitizer available inside the employee restrooms-I believe nursing staff, especially techs, should have training that emphasizes treating patients with respect, (including tone of voice and manner of speaking), and being able to appropriately intervene when a patient is beginning to escalate. This includes during groups and other programming - if a patient is beginning to escalate the techs should help redirect the patient, de-escalate the situation or remove the patient. Some of the non-clinical staff are very good at doing this. However, quite a few others seem to have a 'hands-off ' approach and do not get involved if a patient is beginning to act up, (i.e. during a group) and only step in if the patient becomes aggressive. And a related comment: Nursing staff on the unit should have the main responsibility for getting patients to groups. and other programming.

I work under Melissa the Director of Expressive Therapy and she needs to improve on how she speak to her staff and other staff throughout the hospital. Some of the staff can't go to HR or Cindy to talk about how disrespectful Melissa has been as a leader for LBH. She is good at communication, however the way she address things is not the correct way. I personally witness her talking about other staff business to another staff. A team of us are afraid to say anything because it has been noted that Cindy will back her up and HR will not be able to have a say so because of Cindy. It's not a leader place to walk into a unit and start demanding things without asking "why" were all adults and the way Melissa come at some of the staff questions our leadership team structure. She has been known to tell some of the techs that she makes decisions and what she says goes and going to HR isn't an option. We don't know what else to do. Please look into her behavior as I/ some of us witness other manager talk about how she is, so we know it's accurate.
