Leaders are very good at finding tenants and letting the property. The management service is good, the team are very responsive and do their best but one senses that they are seriously stretched at times - maybe this area needs further resources.

I have been a landlord through leaders for a couple of years now, and have found parts of the business rather officious and keen to take responsibility for aspects of my landlord duties without my authorisation. This has included the fitting of carbon monoxide detectors and the organisation of a gas safety inspection. Whilst both these things are required, with Leaders not being responsible for managing my property, neither of these are their direct concern. The policy seems to be to arrange for these things without consultation, then charge a slightly padded price to the landlord for having done so. This is not however the work of the local office, with which I deal most often, who are always friendly and helpful.

Excellent sales/letting management and very careful with the legals although we find the electronic document system a little cumbersome. The superior leaseholder often needs a signed copy of the contract to permit a sublet. The management activity could be a little more proactive on behalf of the landlord when problems arrive. E.g. suggest solutions before just telling the landlord and asking for landlord action. The landlord often needs to be better informed before making a decision and the management team have not taken action to find out more. It can be very frustrating.

We have been very impressed with Leaders especially Sarah (Haywards Heath office) who has gone out of her way to assist us before and during our tenancy. We had heard 'horror stories' about the service from Leaders to other tenants but we have certainly not encountered anything other than professionalism and good customer care. The property management team have also been excellent, responding to any issues in a timely and courteous manner. Well done to you all.
