I reached out to Lookers via autotrader and requested information on a vehicle.Your representative, Saqib, both emailed and phoned me and on both occasions completely FAILED to acknowledge my 2 questions and instead proceeded to insist on booking me in for a test drive and video of the car. I advised him that this is a waste of everyones time and trust and quite simply to come back to me with answers on my questions.I then was followed up with a call from Mark at Volvo Colchester. He clearly followed your script and AGAIN, FAILED to acknowledge my 2 questions and instead proceeded to insist on booking me in for a test drive and again, a video of the car. I advised him that this is exactly was Saqib said and that it is quite simply a waste of everyones time and trust and quite simply to come back to me with answers on my questions. I expressed how frustrated I was in the fact that clearly emails are not been read and understood. I gave Mark my requests, and explicitly explained I have no interest in a video or a test drive until I had my questions answered, I mean, Mark didn't even ask where I would be travelling from, the change in tone of is his voice left me trusting that he would get back to me, how right I was.A week later, still no response, so I threw an offer on the vehicle, based upon not having none of my questions answered. I received no response.Based upon this experience I highly DO NOT recommend Lookers and I will be sure to be pro active in sharing this experience with others. It is clear that the objective of the network is to get people through the door and corner them into a test drive, thus clouding and influencing someones judgement, by the feeling of excitement of sitting in another vehicle.I was completely ready to purchase the vehicle, but I needed the answers to my questions in order to make an informed decision. I would highly suggest that others don't waste there time with Lookers or Volvo Colchester.

Good MorningPlease see below non regulated complaint. Many thanks.Regards.F and I ComplaintsManchester Head OfficeLookers House 1st Floor, Lookers Stoke, Bede Road, ST4 4GUlookers.co.ukFrom: patrick sheridanSent: 29 November 2025 12:13To: F and I ComplaintsSubject: Mis-Selling of Warranty, Incorrect Documentation & Request for Correct Volvo WarrantyExternal Sender: Confirm legitimacy before acting.Dear Sir/Madam,I am writing to raise a formal complaint regarding the warranty supplied during the purchase of my Volvo XC90 on 5 July 2024 at Lookers Volvo Colchester. Several serious issues have come to light which show that the warranty supplied was not the product I requested, was not presented or explained at the point of sale, and was issued with significant inaccuracies. At the point of sale, I specifically requested a Volvo manufacturer warranty or Volvo extended warranty. I was led to believe that this was the warranty being added to the purchase. Instead, I was supplied with a third-party RAC/TWG warranty. This product is not equivalent to the official Volvo warranty, was never explained to me, and was not shown to me in any form during the transaction. I was not made aware that a third-party warranty had been applied, and I did not agree to it.In addition, I did not receive any paperwork relating to the RAC/TWG warranty during or immediately after the sale. I only became aware of the existence of this warranty afterwards, and I had to request the documentation myself from Phil Yelland, who sent it to me. The failure to provide the documentation at the time of sale demonstrates that I was not given the opportunity to review or consent to the warranty being supplied. The documentation that was later provided contains further inaccuracies. The warranty form records the vehicle’s fuel type as petrol, when the vehicle is in fact diesel. This is a material inaccuracy and indicates that the documentation was not completed with reasonable care. The contract is also unsigned. The warranty form contains signature fields for both the dealer and the customer, yet neither signature appears. This means that no valid contract was formed, and no informed consent was obtained.Furthermore, the salesperson listed on the warranty is incorrect. The document names “samwaters” as the salesperson, but the vehicle was sold to me by Mike Needham. This adds to the overall pattern of inaccuracies and demonstrates that the warranty was not properly or transparently applied. In light of the above, I wish to be clear that I am not seeking a refund of the RAC/TWG warranty. I am seeking the warranty I requested and reasonably believed I was purchasing: the official Volvo extended warranty. I therefore require that Lookers provide the correct Volvo warranty at your expense in replacement of the mis-sold RAC/TWG product. I also expect all inaccurate documentation to be corrected, together with an appropriate gesture of goodwill to reflect the time, inconvenience, and misrepresentation involved. If I do not receive a satisfactory response within 14 days, I will escalate this matter to the Motor Ombudsman, Volvo UK Customer Relations, and, if necessary, begin proceedings through the County Court under the relevant consumer protection legislation. This letter should be treated as notice that I will pursue all available remedies should the matter not be resolved promptly.I look forward to your written response.Yours faithfully,Patrick Sheridan

Did not feel that there was a genuine desire to help me finding the car I have decided I would like to buy. This may be influenced by fact I am cash buyer and salesperson not going to make commission on that. Somewhat patronised in being told that I won’t get what I’m looking for at my budget but have seen several cars via Volvo Select at desired price.

I had my XC90 booked in well in advance of a planned holiday, which involved a five hour drive to get there. Ironically, this was a resort for ‘relax and recharge’ provided by the firefighters charity, as my partner and I (both firefighters) have be a rough time recently responding to traumatic incidents. I also struggle around this time of Remembrance Day, as a British army veteran. I dropped my car off in the morning, at 08:00. I stated the brakes definitely need doing, as they are very loud, and embarrassing. I requested the car be done as soon as reasonably possible, as we were heading to Devon straight after for our holiday. I got an email a few days later with a condition report. It only had brakes as an issue, everything thing else was fine. I approved the works, set up and agreed to a payment plan and submitted it. I hear nothing the entire day. I was a bit worried, so checked the website to find they close at 18:30. I waited and arrived at this time. They were closed. Someone did come to the door and eventually after calls and searching for my car I paid and left. I did t get to my holiday unit until after midnight, tired and angry. My brakes squealed all the way. They weren’t done at all. Just like and filter. I got a flat the very next day. Called Volvo roadside assist. They wouldn’t help as apparently the garage didn’t update to show it’s been serviced. We were stuck in a bad spot in the rain. Roadside told me to call lookers, adamant it’s for them to sort. Roadside did eventually come, it said it’s still not on the system. I called again to roadside and this time got a name. She was adamant that there nothing they can do. I called lookers multiple times. I left messages. I spoke with a woman on reception who promised a call back from the service manager or another manager. This never happened. Many phone calls - nothing. They were not open Sunday. So I drove the rest of my holiday with ‘Volvo roadside assist expired’ flashing on my dash, bad (and embarrassing) brakes and a horrible feeling - knowing if something goes wrong - I’m on my own. I’ve been a customer for years, including my last car. They ruined my ‘relax and recharge’ holiday. Roadside assist said the brakes look like metal on metal. I’m furious. I almost sent this story to media.

My email address isefpnunes@gmail.comMobile 07778775852Veihicle registration AX72FGFI would like to be re inbursed of the money that was wrongly charge to me, please, asap. Was alredy very disappointed that Volvo had taken so long to solve the car problem, even worst when I realised that the diligences that should happen from Volvo to the rental car entripise didn' happene!

Hi guys,Wondering why there was no mention of the 'high/ higher voltage generation' the Volvo Assist Technician found? Also if MOT was carried out with the service?KR, Jonny

Purchased an XC90 reg RO24WPU from Colchester Volvo. From day one there has been a 'wobble' from the car felt through the steering wheel and the seat. Colchester have had the vehicle several times to rectify the issue but have failed on every occasion. Something is very much out of balance. Each time I am fed rubbish stupid reasons why the wobble is there. Each time I am told it is a wheel balancing issue and that this has been fixed, sadly each time it is not fixed and the wobble’ is still there. How can it be a wheel balance issue every time and then it is ‘fixed’ but is still there? There has been several other issues with he car• Faulty heater fan (replaced)• Numerous warning lights coming, including but not limited to, Key not found in car despite being in car and driving along the road, Triangle with exclamation mark warning light, seats losing memory, head up display losing memory along with numerous others. These seem to have been resolved.• Drivers door suddenly dropped and rubbing on rear door wearing away trim. I was told that this is apparently common with cars. Really? Come on, what a bizarre statement to make. Now resolved.I have asked for a full examination of steering, geometry check including balance check, CV shafts, drive shaft, brake discs, engine and transmission mounts, alignment and chassis damage. Colchester have informed me this has been done but no issues found other than this statement4-wheel alignment has been done, and I have a printout for you which I can get the driver to bring with him. The rear camper is slightly out but on Volvo’s and most vehicles this cannot be adjusted. The last time the vehicle was in for the ‘wobble’ and the dropped door, when I collected it the rear window blind hook was missing with two yellow squares looking at me. I pointed this out at the time of collection and was told I would be contacted. To this day have never been contacted until a new hook was put through my letter box. How rude and unprofessional. The hook alone is a very trivial issue and under normal circumstances would never have been raised by me. However, this clearly show the lack of attention to detail and indicates why they are not able to fix the balancing issue. The whole experience of purchasing a new vehicle is supposed to be a pleasant and enjoyable one. This experience has been so far from that, the car is an inconvenience and a massive disappointment. Disappointment in the car, the brand and the dealership.Colchester have had enough chances to fix the issue and yet failed on every attempt, stating it is a simple wheel balance issue yet are unable to fix it after 3 attempts. Each time the vehicle has been in to you I have been fobbed off with ridiculous claims and smoke and Mirrors.ON 30 October I emailed the P Yelland and G Sturley stating that the balancing issue is still there and that I would be taking the vehicle to another Volvo dealership for them to look at the issue. I informed them in my email that if the third-party dealership is unable to fix the issue that I would be returning the vehicle for a like to like replacement. In true Lookers Colchester fashion, I have had no response to my email. I find this rude, unprofessional, ignorant, and disgusting behaviour considering the value of the vehicle and that we have been long-term returning customers. Sadly, right now, I would NOT recommend Lookers and actively inform people to avoid.I look forward to a response and hope that you can restore some faith in Lookers Volvo
