Andy in Sales was very straightfoward, communicative and helpful. And, he didn't use pressure. Unfortunately, the car I was interested in sold before I was ablebto come to look at it.

After looking at XC40 cars on the Lookers Colchester website I was called by a Ben Smith asking if I would like a test drive, which he arranged for the next day at 11.00am. Arriving in good time I failed to find a salesman, the reception desk was not in operation and there was no sign of a vehicle readied for test driving. Finally my wife and I decided it was a waste of time and left. My subsequent email to Ben Smith regarding this non-event has been totally ignored. Obviously Lookers do not want my custom.

The staff I dealt with were very good but the car was incorrectly listed on Autotrader. Also, getting the deposit back is rather slow.

Th lady on the service desk very helpful an the car was nice and clean and tide

Dear Sir/MadamI took our Volvo V60 (KX68XVT) for its service in June (19). Following this I received the following report Click Here to view your VHC , which suggested that the "linings - pads/shoes" were 4 mm both at the front and rear, as well as other issues. I spent a number of frustrating phone calls over a few days trying to arrange for repair of these, having to ring nationally and locally as the telephone automated number for Lookers seems to pass between departments. The frustration stemmed from the fact no one ever called me back as requested, I never received a quote for what at the time was described as brake pads, and I could not book an appointment - in the end I had to go in person to arrange this. During this process I received conflicting information about whether it was in fact the pads or discs that needed replacingWhen I took it back for some of these repairs, I decided to forgo the brake pads, as I had received a cheaper quote at Halfords, and because of the confusion. In fact, when I took it to Lookers, I was told "good news" because the front pads in fact had 6 mm left on them - confusingly 2mm more than previously measured.During those repairs (12 August) the car received its (modest) "complimentary" wash - in the process a large horizontal scratch mark was made under the number plate on the rear of the car.A new wheel was also fitted, with the pressure blown up to 48 (!) and no calibration done. The car hasn't been driven much at all in the interim as my wife recently changed to a job in which she can cycle to work.Yesterday I took the car for the brake pads/discs to be looked at as a second opinion by Halfords, and for replacements as needed - please see report attached.Imagine my concern when I was told in fact both pads and discs needed replacing both ends, and that one set had worn down below the legal limit. They informed me that Volvo could not have looked adequately because it was clear the wheels had not been taken off to inspect them properly.I did not highlight or ask for anything to be done with the wheels, but proactively Halfords checked the wheel pressures and recalibrated them for me ready for me picking the car up.I will not be using the Colchester garage again, and have reservations about using Volvo Lookers elsewhere. For the high expense of services I am not sure what value they are providing nor that they are getting the 'basics' right. I realise there may be a suggestion of "hearsay" what one garage says versus another, but I have always had a reliable experience with Halfords in Colcheter and it is frankly concerning that the measurements are so different.Best wishesSteve Cole

i have emailed this letter to gavin at colchester lookers and sent it via recorded delivery to customer service and complaint resolutions team, lookers house,1st floor, lookers stoke, bede road, stoke on trent, st44gu.as per the consumers right act 2015-customers have the right to a refund, repair, or replacement for goods that are not of satisfactory quality, fit for purpose or as described.i contacted you on 30/09/25 regards my volvo xc40, reg AX211DV.the complaint is not passed onto the colchester lookers branch where they responded and refused to repair the vehicle.i have had a quote from arnold clark in iverness where the vehicle is currently located to replace the engine. the total cost being £13539.60. i have requested for vlvo colchester lookers to either replace the engine at their cost or cover 40% which would total £5415.84.this letter is the request for volvo colchester lookers to reimburse the £5415.84.please respond within 7 days.

So I took delivery on my xc90 November 2024And have had a few issues 2 are resolved but 2 are still outstanding and this is very very upsetting to say the least.I made contact with Ross on the 16th may and I’m still yet to get a response.I’ve made numerous calls and spoken with many different individuals but again no contact has been make back to me . This is so disappointing for a main dealer to perform this low

To whom it may concern,I bought a white Volvo xc40 from lookers Volvo colchester in August 2021. I paid approximately £37000.I now find the engine of the car to have the following fault:Piston ring failure leading to scored cylinder (this was diagnosed at Arnold’s Clark Volvo in Inverness at the end of July 2025). The vehicle is still there. And Arnold’s Clark have advised the vehicle needs a new engine.Under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, goods you supply must be fit for purpose and of satisfactory quality. As there is a problem with the ‘goods’, I am requesting that you replace the engine at your cost… the engine is not of Satisfactory Quality. And is not Fit for Purpose.I have been in communication with Volvo UK and they have agreed to cover 60% of the cost. So I am asking Volvo lookers Colchester to cover the remaining 40%.I have sort advice from citizens advice, and have therefore asked Arnold’s Clark Volvo Inverness to hold off replacing the engine to give lookers Volvo Colchester the opportunity to do this yourselves (rather than reimbursing me for the repair/replacement).In support of my claim you will find on your system that my vehicle was serviced (on time) each year with Volvo. It has just over 34000 miles on the clock. It has been over 9 weeks now that I’ve been without a car, I appreciate this is the first you are hearing of it, but can I ask that you look into this matter promptly.Charlotte depree10 Chaplin roadEast bergholtCo76sr

Bragging rights for the dealership.I visited my local Volvo dealership in Bristol with my five-year-old Volvo XC 60 B5 AWD. The SIM card in the vehicle needed to be replaced. This was done free of charge. I had absolutely no intention of changing my excellent 17000 mile super Blue vehicle.Whilst they were replacing the Sim card I found myself in the showroom looking at all the sparkly new vehicles. What harm could it do? Luckily, I’m blessed with an iron wilI I thought.I escaped with a new SIM card probably worth less than a £1.Unfortunately, I then found myself looking on the VOLVO website and stumbled across your dealership, LOOKERS in Colchester. Miles away from my house!Having spoken with your Aaron MUCKLE over the ensuing 4 weeks, I finished up writing a cheque for over £16,000 and purchasing a slightly younger, Volvo Selekt used XC 60, than the one I had.Your salesman did an excellent job convincing me that even though we were miles apart and for the FIRST TIME in my experienced life I’d be writing a huge cheque for something that I’ve never actually seen in the flesh, I was doing the right thing.I took delivery of my Volvo Selekt approved car purchase today. It came up to proof and is everything that Aaron said it would be. He encouraged me to the belief that in response to all my searching questions he was providing honest responses throughout. And as it transpired he was. He’s a personable knowledgeable chap, when he didn’t know the answer to a question he went away and found out. Then he responded. On the days when he wasn’t there. I spoke with Sam and Curtis who were also very helpful. The sales manager Ross did his bit too on one occasion. He’s obviously running an effective and efficient ship.Primarily, Aaron secured what for me was a considerable sale from a STANDSTILL start. He is a super ambassador for your LOOKERS Empire. Please be kind enough to pass on my complimentary comments to him. Well done, LOOKERS. If we were closer, you would be my go to dealership.Alan Bailey
