MAL has been wonderful to my parents who both reside there. The staff is caring, attentive, collaborative, professional, and friendly. I highly recommend MAL for senior assisted living!

I don't visit the facility often, but I do communicate with my wife and sometimes with her caregivers by phone. Based on what I've seen and input from both of our daughters, the facility is well run and the caregivers are competent and caring.

The transportation bus needs to be offered to residents for offsite excursions. The food needs to be served promptly so hit foods are hot and cold foods are cold. It also needs to be more appealing to the residents.Exterior parking lights need to be maintained and ON at dusk to dawn.Common area/hallway carpets need to be cleaned.Upstairs residents should not be able to have outdoor bird feeders. They make a huge mess for the residents on the first floor.More activities should be offered. Perhaps elevated garden beds for residents to tend and the fruits/vegetables good be used in the menu.

Nobody should have to get up at 6:30 7 o’clock to take a shower that I don’t think it’s acceptable. When changing a bad my person has two sets of sheets you take off one and you put on another at the same time wash the dirty ones and bring them back. A bid should be made beforeYou get in it not at the time you’re getting in it.

The quality and quantity of the food has gone down considerably since PACS took over. Residents have to wait an hour or longer to get their meals. The kitchen is always out of some menu items. The quality of some of the food is poorer than it used to be. The portions are much smaller. Many of the residents have some degree of memory loss and don’t know how to ask for a substitution if they don’t like what they are served. My mother has skipped a lot of lunches because the meal was not edible, and she won’t eat dinner any more, so I’m worried about her nutrition. It would be great if the staff could go around and ask if the residents liked their food and if they would like more or want something else. Also when the kitchen staff sees what foods are left on the plates uneaten, they should make a note that some items are not getting eaten and stop serving those.
