Repeat High-Voltage Battery Fault – Unsafe Return of Vehicle FH71MZDDear Sir, MadamI am writing regarding our Mercedes EQA 350 (FH71MZD), purchased from Lookers Eastbourne on 1st August 2025 with extended warranty.This vehicle has now suffered a second major breakdown in 10 weeks of ownership. Today, a Mercedes technician has confirmed that the fault relates to the main high-voltage battery with a thermal runaway code. He also confirmed this is the same fault code recorded on the first breakdown.When we reported the first incident, we told you that the attending RAC mechanic believed the issue was with the main battery. Despite this, Lookers returned the vehicle to us after road testing, stating there were no fault codes. This was clearly incorrect, as the same critical code has now recurred. That means the car was handed back to us in an unsafe condition.The consequences have been significant – we have already missed a championship dog show due to the unreliability of the car – but far more concerning is the safety risk of returning a vehicle with a potential thermal runaway condition uninvestigated.We now require the following: 1. Immediate confirmation that the vehicle will be fully investigated by Mercedes high-voltage specialists, with a full diagnostic report shared with us (not just “no fault found”). 2. A courtesy car or hire vehicle supplied without interruption for the duration of the repair. RAC has already arranged a temporary Enterprise rental for us, which we expect Mercedes/Lookers to honour until our own car is safely returned. 3. A written explanation as to why the main battery fault was not investigated when it was first reported, despite us raising the RAC technician’s findings with you. 4. Clarification on whether this vehicle is subject to the known EQA/EQB battery recall/service measures recently reported.Please also note that under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, because the vehicle is under 6 months old from purchase, the fault is presumed to have been present at sale unless you can prove otherwise. We therefore reserve our right to seek a replacement vehicle or to reject the car entirely if this issue is not resolved satisfactorily.Given the seriousness of a high-voltage thermal runaway code, I expect a senior manager to respond urgently.Yours sincerely,Murray Barnett07368 350632

I would like to say I have now more issues with my car GF63FFR since it was at your garage. I am not convinced the initial problem has been fixed after being with you and subsequently Tonbridge garage who repaired it after it being with you. Now there is a horrible smell, possibly burning when driven. An indicator light problem has shown up on the dash board and then gone away and now the dashboard lights do not come on when the car is started. I am very nervous to drive the car and would like to know what I am now supposed to do after spending such a huge amount of money on you fixing it. I look forward to hearing from you.
