Following some starting issues I took my car M55 BPP to an independent Mercedes mechanic who put on the star diagnosis system. To cut a long story short, couldn’t find issue as Crankcase sensor was ticked ok, he said it may be a key or key reading issue…anyway there was a fault on the electrical system so he said change the battery and alternator voltage regulator which I could only change the batteryCar continued to fault so rang Lookers Stafford and booked in, had the service lady ring and said it was the crank case sensor and agreed to changeCollected the car today and within meters the engine check light came on and the BAS ESP so rang, they said these items were at fault when the car was taken yesterday which I knew, I just thought for having a diagnostic check anyway to determine the root cause that these would have been cleared but apparently not, I need to find another £200 plus pounds for another diagnostic check. When told my car was ready not once was I informed that these errors remained and further investigation would be needed, you have just had the car in for a diagnostic check so again assumed that everything was ok following the main problem being rectified

Dear Lookers,I bought a car from your Stafford dealership approximately 3 weeks ago. After around a week of ownership I discovered that the car had an active recall on it from Mercedes. I have contacted the dealership about rejecting the car for a full refund as I feel let down and disappointed at being sold a relatively expensive car that has an active and potentially serious safety issue with it.The general manager of the dealership has contacted me to say I cannot reject the car and you will therefore not refund me, as a recall relating to a software update does not qualify for rejecting the car. I disagree and I am therefore contacting you to find out your position on this. I have also contacted Mercedes UK to get their opinion and shall be contacting Trading Standards and the DVSA for their views also. The recall is a software update, but one that relates to a safety issue and therefore, in my opinion, is a recall that could potentially have serious consequences had it gone un-noticed by myself. It is my understanding that it is illegal for a motor dealer in the UK to sell a car with an active recall on it. How this has happened when the car was MOT'd and serviced prior to collection I don't know, but it has left me with no confidence in the dealership and therefore the car itself. If a Mercedes dealership cannot rectify a known recall on its own car before selling it, how good was the work undertaken on the service? Under the Consumer Rights Act I am able to reject the vehicle as I have owned it for less than 30 days and it has been sold in an unroadworthy state as the fault/recall was there at the point of sale.Could you let me know your views on this at your earliest opportunity please?Regards,Andrew Gange

The sale rep (Steve Wooley) was excellent. From first contact on a phone call to placing the order for the car.

Hi SteveJust wondered if there is any news re the car? I was also curious as to why I received the email below.Best regardsChristine

I have a service plan which includes MOT but on 2nd December Mercedes Stafford had to abort my test due to an emissions equipment fault. No other local Mercedes garage could help and so I had to urgently arrange another MOT test at a local garage, As pay for my MOT with the service plan and to compensate me for my stress and time (sat for 2 hours on 2.12.25 in Mercedes Stafford) it was agreed by the Service Manager that the MOT cost of £54.85 would be paid by Mercedes Stafford on receipt of VAT invoice. I dropped off this receipt and my bank transfer details on 6.12.25 to the showroom. For the past fortnight I have left 3 phone messages and 2 emails to chase this payment but have had absolutely no response. I am therefore escalating this matter in line with your complaints procedure.
