I arrived at Nalley Acura in a bit of a bind. My 2016 Audi A6 (after only 120,000 miles) had just experienced a catastrophic breakdown, and I was faced with my "dependable" and much-loved vehicle needing a new engine – at a cost of $26,000. After hearing this news, I left the Audi dealership and drove a borrowed car to visit an old friend – Nalley Acura. Nalley’s had been my dealership home for the 10+ years prior to owning the Audi – having had a wonderful experience as the owner of a 2005 Acura TL. The day prior, I had done a bit of research and found the TLX at or near the top of the “top sedan” lists, so I wanted to get a better look. Even though I arrived without an appointment, I was soon able to meet with Sales Advisor Agelika Blac to tell my story, including the fact that I did not know what I would be doing with the Audi. I received answers to my questions, took a test drive (in the car I would purchase) and was promised an email later that day with pricing information (which was provided). In the meantime, I found out that the circa value of the Audi if it were in the state of not needing repair would only be $15,925, so replacing the engine at a cost of $26,000 made no sense. I also had a trusted mechanic look at the vehicle to confirm the diagnosis, which he did. I was also given the option of installing a rebuilt engine for far less money, but the math still did not add up and I would be left wondering what other mechanical problems might soon come with an eight-year-old vehicle. Serious pivot to the Acura TLX. I again dropped in unannounced at Nalley Acura to meet with Agelika. After waiting 10-15 minutes, the General Sales Manager (who knew my story through Agelika) explained she was with another customer and, instead, had me meet with Sam Hendrix. Sam and I got up to speed quickly and collaborated with me to “sharpen the pencil” on pricing – even bringing a very fair offer to the table on the trade-in value of the disabled Audi A6. I could not produce a reason to say “No,” so we signed the papers.
