I had started experiencing GERD issues in September 2025. I tried and tried to get an appointment but was told I needed a referral. I did not have a PCM. My Endocrinologist finally wrote one for me (Cookeville Regional). It took over 2 months to get in. By then it was a daily occurrence with bad reflux (We moved from NC in Aug 2025). On the day of my appointment, Dr. Bertram came in and addressed my issues. What I found to be unusual was no one asked me to fill out a HIPPA form so this office could receive my medical records from my previous Gastroenterologist office and my Bariatric office (my doctor there did a hiatal hernia surgery). I have a history of GERD, Gastritis, IBS-C, and Diverticulosis. I also had to ask for an Endoscopy to be done. I mentioned I had a couple of polyps but was never offered a colonoscopy (I believe it has been over 5 yrs.). I am scheduled for the endoscopy Sept. 18, 2026. Maybe this is normal, but how can a doctor know what has transpired with a patient if they do not request past medical records? Dr. Bertram was very nice and polite and showed me screens of an esophagus and colon; all of which I'm familiar because of my past issues. I just think it was a lack of understanding and communication on both our parts.

All issues that I have been having were discussed & treatment for these were addressed.

Friendly, knowledgeable, professional, and caring is my opinion of Dr. Bertram. He explained to me the results of my blood tests in plain English and was clear in telling me what to do in the future. I would happily recommend him.

Dr Bertram explained my husband's condition in a clear, straight-forward manner and discussed our opinions. He did an excellent job of examining and listening to his chest and abdomen and listened carefully to our questions and concerns.

He is a very caring doctor who has time to talk to his patients and goes over the treatment till you understand all about it.
