The salesman was over aggressive in his selling of a 4 year warranty

I purchased a 2nd hand car from one of your sales team (Laurence Walters). He went out of his way to get some unspotted bodywork faults corrected.5 star treatment.

Excellent service from one of your sales persons. He went out of his way to correct some unspotted bodywork defects.

The sales team was very knowledgeable and attentive. They prepared a proposal that was well tailored to our requests.

My son was very interested in an electric Renault Scenic,he had done his research and decided this was the car he liked, so we accompanied him to Lookers Chester, we entered the dealership . We found the car. We had a good look around it, sat in it, checked the boot space, we spent a good 10 minutes looking at the car. At no point did any of the 3 members of staff who where looking at there computers come over and ask if they could be of any assistance, non of them had a customer with them while we were there. I went to one of them and asked if they have a brochure we could take, and i just got the response 'scan the QR code'. We left very disappointed, but not as disappointed as Renault cars would be knowing a customer who was ready to spend £40,000. walked straight out of the door.

Car was great and chap I dealt with was nice enough however it was clear interest was lost when I mentioned purchasing the car through nhs. I get there’s commission to make on sales …. But it doesn’t reflect well on Renault as a brand. Treat the customer with patience and respect and always take your time. You never know I might have decided to purchase a car from you in the future but I can definitely say that won’t be the case as I’m now under the impression sales guys just see the wallet and lose all interest in the person. communication was also fine although I was expecting a personalised video of the car I would be test driving but instead received a video just explaining what was happening on the day hence the 4 stars. Otherwise communication was good.

Good morning,Re: Renault Clio BL70 FJC (Now reg. C25 ECE)I am writing to complain about a car and the service we received when my daughter and I bought my daughter’s first car between the dates of 27/3/25-29/3/25 from Lookers Renault, Chester. We contacted Lookers on 27/3/25 and spoke with Craig Phillips to arrange a viewing of a Black Renault Clio (reg at the time was BL70 FJC). We visited the dealership that evening at 5:30pm and took the car for a test drive.Immediately at the end of the test drive we raised concerns to Craig about a scraping sound coming from the brakes. Craig reassured us that this was not a concern and was happening because the car had been sitting for a while - he stated it was normal at first to make this sound and would ease off after driving for a while. He later reassured us that despite the vehicle having had its “250-point vehicle check”, he would ask that the brakes be checked again before we took it home.We trusted that Craig was being honest and that the car would be checked as per our concerns. We trusted a main dealership to sell us a car in good and safe condition and we certainly did not expect to be lied to or gaslit into believing there was nothing wrong with the brakes, hence buying a £12k car from a Renault dealership in the first place. It would have been very obvious that we were not mechanics nor would have the expertise to diagnose any issues ourselves. The car has been making some loud noises more consistently for a number of weeks now. We managed to book in with a local garage yesterday (Wednesday 24 September 2025) to have it inspected. We have been shown that the brake pads were completely worn down to near metal and the brake discs were heavily scored. They were in a very bad way and have obviously needed to be replaced immediately. After researching this ourselves and speaking with the mechanic, it has been determined that that the front brake pads and discs could not possibly have been in acceptable condition when we purchased the car, as my daughter has only driven around 4000 miles, much of this being long-distance driving with minimal braking. She also has had a black box fitted since purchasing the car (as per her insurance terms as a new driver) and has a very high/good score regarding her driving, but more notably, her braking habits. It is impossible that she has caused this level of wear and damage to the pads and discs in the time she has owned the car. This ultimately means that we were not only sold a car that was not in acceptable condition for the price, but that we were blatantly lied about its condition and the reliability of any checks. Again, we specifically asked about the brakes at the time of the test drive. The car at the time of purchase had done 26,898 miles only, my daughter was still a learner driver, not passing her test until 20th May 2025 and has since been driving carefully as per her black box scores. So as I am sure you can agree, she could not have not caused this level of wear/damage to the pads and discs since the purchase. The replacement and fitting of the pads and discs has cost me £214.73. I could not refuse to have them done as the car was unsafe to drive a day longer.I have been absolutely horrified and disgusted to learn that we obviously drove away a car that we were reassured had been tested not only once, but twice for any issues (especially regarding the front brakes). And to make it worse, Craig knew this car was for a 17 year old who would be a brand new driver (she was with me for the test drive and signed the documents).I would hope for some reimbursement for the costs of the repairs, given that the pads (and especially discs) should not have been anywhere near this condition at this point, as well as considering we bought this car in very good faith on Craig’s word that everything had been checked. I feel extremely let down and disappointed that we were lied to and that my daughter has been driving a car that was not in the safe condition we were told it was. Not to mention the unnecessary costs now incurred.I have provided evidence of the condition of the brake pads and discs, the invoice for works completed, a copy of the original invoice for the car, the supposed 250-point check paperwork (that’s all we have been provided with) and also my daughter’s driving scores from her black box as well as her driving test pass certificate to support my case. I have also included information I found relating to the usual lifespan of brake pads and discs in the UK.If you require anything else, please let me know, otherwise I look forward to hearing from someone with a resolution. I really do not wish to have to take this further.Regards,Annette Georgakis (on behalf of Sienna Spicer Georgakis)
