I had a broken molar on the upper jaw on the left hand side on saturday (2/11/24) evening and called the practice and they told me to come at 10.20pm. I saw a young dentist and explained to him everything. I wanted to discuss options with him but he failed to explain anything to me. He was pushing me to have the extraction done immediately. He did not explain the fact that the extraction may not be successful and that the root may remain in the gum and that it would need to be removed by a surgeon who was not available on that day. He started by drilling into the tooth rather than trying to extract it. Eventually he tried to extract it but it broke at the root. I am now left with a retained root which I will have to have removed. In conclusion the dentist had no communcation skills and failed to explain the procedure which I though was a normal extraction that did not involve any drilling. In the end he was not even concerned that the tooth was not completey removed and would not answer any questions and wanted me to leave saying you will have to come back on Monday. He took me to the receptionist and asked her for an individual, she replied that he ws not available on monday. She gave him a few names of persons available on Monday and he shook his head, then he finally settled on a name for a dentist who was available on Tuesday. The dental nurse kept leaving the room and once he had to go and get her back into the room to operate the suction device. I was not given any safety glasses and i was worried that with the drill I might get an eye injury the way he was moving it about. Whilst injecting the local aneasthetic which he did three times he also dug the needle into my lower pallet which was very painful. I asked him why he needed to inject it into the bottom front pallet as well and why he had done this. He replied that it was the pain from the injection on the gum as the nerves are linked. I could feel that he had taken the needle out of the gum and then placed it on the bottom jaw pallet piercing it causing pain. I suspect that he had done this deliberately. I am not sure why he treated me like this but he did tell me that this was his last day at the practice and I formed the opinion that perhaps he was not happy and was taking it out on me for some reason.

I chipped a molar on a Saturday and attended a 10pm appointment with my 2 young children. Sukhdev was brilliant, great dental care and care towards my children and I in our personal circumstances. Will never forget the kindness shown and dignity of the experience.

Appointment with dentist had been cancelled due to annual leave with no communication that it had been cancelled. Receptionist did say his patients had been informed that morning but I had neither missed a call nor had overlooked an email. Thankfully had an appointment with hygienist scheduled for afterwards so wasn’t a completely wasted journey but it did mean waiting around.
