StaffingSafetyPrioritize acuity over numbers and money. Pt and staff safety is more important than filling beds as quick as possible. There is not enough staff at all to help patients and to take care of all their needs. 4 or 5 staff trying to accommodate 25+ Pt's is not enough.There should be hospital wide email for every employee in order to facilitate good communication. Finding out changes just by chance is not good communication.

Intake is an extremely dangerous work area. We need full-time Intake security on day and night shifts. This should not be optional, it should be mandatory. Or employ public safety like other hospitals. In all honesty, staff safety does not seem to be a priority or concern of the hospital at this time.The furniture should not be movable. Chairs and tables should be secured to the floor, like other hospitals, to prevent patients from using them to harm themselves or others.I understand that we operate as an emergency room, but we are not adequately staffed to handle the presenting problems that come through our department. Patients in a high acute mental health crisis and/or actively intoxicated/detoxing require staff training and attention that we simply cannot offer at this time with our low staffing levels and without round the clock Intake Nurse and/or Intake Security. Clinicians absolutely possess the knowledge of how to notice and respond to these kinds of emergencies, but at the end of the day, clinicians are not medical professionals with medical training on how to immediately prevent or treat an overdose, seizure, etc.

MHTs need more tablets, having max iPads for the unit does not account for max acuity! For example: if you only have 4 iPads at max acuity how can you expect anything to be charged for the following shift?Also, they don’t necessarily have to be iPads because the app can be installed anywhere. If the hospital has a partnering deal with Apple but you’re worried about the price tag, Apple negotiates leasing deals for businesses that include a low monthly rate and options to upgrade every couple of years.MHTs also need UPGRADED TABLETS. The lightning cord iPads are an indication of outdated hardware, which could explain the near-regular signal drop-offs even when standing directly underneath the WiFi pods on the outer edge of units, or why the beacon signal detection is unreliable.Beacon detection and percentage calculation needs to be improved upon. I’ve witnessed experiments conducted on signal strength in multiple units and it seems the beacons detection rates are completely arbitrary and unreliable at best. If the signal was reliable, there wouldn’t be options to explain why there was no signal detection.The beacon detection formula is also an issue because there’s no mathematical way to break out of the average since each detection is the same value. If you think about it in terms of school grading, the way to bump up your grade average is to have separate categories that scale in value (i.e. Tests > quizzes > homework). None of that is present in the current formula for determining beacon percentage.The gossip is absolutely out of control in this facility, to the point to where personal information regarding my family was overheard by staff. That probably reveals my identity, but, you know what, someone brings up a new rumor about me literally every week. I only worked 2 days in the last pay period and other staff were still bringing me up in their gossip nonsense. I have a Bachelor’s Degree, I don’t need want to work with adults that act like they’re still in high school. Are there any admin positions available behind the scenes that I can switch to so I can be left alone?
