Credit unions are often recognized for providing more personalized and accessible customer service. However, after being denied a personal loan, I was unable to receive any additional information regarding the reason for the denial, steps I could take to improve my chances in the future, or recommendations for reliable next steps. Effective communication goes a long way, especially in situations where members are seeking clarity and guidance on important financial matters.I also requested information regarding a previously closed account and was referred to the credit bureaus, which had no record of the alleged debt.What is especially disappointing is that only 30 minutes later, I contacted a different credit union and was approved for the same type of loan using the same credit bureau information.This raises the question of why I would continue recommending or suggesting this credit union, one I have been with for years; over another institution I have only been with for one year, but which has consistently provided excellent customer service, more convenient locations, and a much more personal and detailed experience.

The type of account that is associated with a fee. When I first opened an account with SFCU there was no fee. Now, if I don't use my debit card at least 20 times a month, I get charged a fee. I feel that is a penalty.

I am really disappointed with smart financial credit union since you enrolled me in a life insurance without my knowledge. I am still trying to figure it how was the process done. You tried to blame the insurance company but they didn’t enrolled me. You did.

1. Smart Financial is mo longer a member of Share Branch system. I'm a member of two other credit unions that are members. Guess which two I prefer .2. Greater Texas FCU has a much more extensive set of ATMs available to me with no additional fees to use them, including at most 7-11 and Stripes locations. This is very handy for me.3. It just seems that Smart FCU is too small to work for me. I've actually been thinking of closing my account.Peter S. Hamilton
