N/AIf I may complaint, there are several new MHT’s who take 20-30 minutes in their 15 min breaks. I would recommend to ask one regular worker (nurse/ MHT) from each Unit in private to give advice.

Train newer staff better. A lot of newer staff come into the job and do not perform as they should be. Back when I was hired and started working in the units (nursing staff) we actually enforced the rules. The dayroom closed at 10pm, re-opened at 7am, snacks were put away and not given out during non snack times, patients weren’t told by other staff members that they don’t have to listen to specific rules. It feels incredibly irritating when staff tell patients they can stay up and do puzzles/watch TV after 10pm. It is very unfair to other patients that are trying to sleep. Patients should be encouraged to try and sleep, as a part of their treatment plan (establishing a healthy schedule that they can follow for when they are discharged). We need to be staffed enough to do room checks daily. We need to FOLLOW the rules. Lastly, STAFF NEED to be taught how to properly do skin checks on patients. There have been way too many times where patients have been able to sneak stuff onto the unit due to improper skin checks.CLEANING-The facility is not clean enough. Housekeeping does a great job at working with what products they have. But the products are not good at cleaning. I say this because the floors are absolutely filthy, and so are the bedrooms and patient bathrooms. I think it is completely unfair to patients to be stuck somewhere that isn’t the cleanest possible. Patients use showers that have been used by other patients that haven’t been properly cleaned. I think some patients should at least be given shower shoes if they aren’t getting cleaned enough. That being said; nursing staff should have access to cleaning products to do some cleaning when needed. The wipes we are provided for cleaning aren’t very affective and leave residue all over the surfaces we clean. It is very irritating when surfaces are sticky after they were just cleaned. Bring back the old cavi wipes. We are lucky to have great supervisors though. Melissa, Veronica, and Tony are all amazing and caring individuals who deserve more credit. Same goes for Adrianne and Trinity!Thank youNew hires need to be taught better about patient safety and rules.

Better interdepartmental communicationA focus on quality patient care rather than number of patients in the hospitalLess gift cards and instead higher paychecksMore trainingToo many staff are dismissive of transgender identities and pronouns and namesNursing staff have been dismissive of patients feelings and needs specifically 1W and 2W2 E has too many high acuity patients for the number of staff available

Stephie plays favorites and gives certain patients candy often. The other patients know it and question why they don’t get the rewards

All departments need to communicate to each other clearly. Administration needs to take their staff’s questions and concerns seriously, and address them appropriately without staff facing negative repercussions or being ignored. Staff need to listen to patients needs and concerns without negative repercussions or being ignored.

Managers need to have more meeting with the employees one on one. Not the direct supervisor, but the manager above the supervisor. Employees do not always feel safe expressing their concerns to their supervisor and when you set up a time to talk to someone higher up, everyone else in the office notices you are in talking to them and discuss what it could possibly be about. If we have regular check ins, the fear to express concerns could be eliminated
