We found it really difficult to start with OHSU and then move to Spring. I am used to having to advocate for my own healthcare, but I regularly felt like I had to fight tooth and nail for information for my wife and I. I also really struggled with that theres absolutely no financial transparency. Many other clinics have some sort of financial breakdowns on their websites for a general idea, OHSU had us go through a financial consultation appointment even. Getting a message that we owe $14k less than 24 hours to starting (my wifes) egg retrieval process is completely unacceptable. Especially because we repeatedly asked about financial information. This did improve communication wise during my cycle. I knew it was a gamble with my insurance, and the financial team diligently looked into it. The multitude of doctors we saw were all very helpful when we saw them in clinic. Ive rambled on, but I think the big disconnect is the Salve app. It makes communication difficult, its hard to navigate, theres always 10+ message strings, the signing forms never worked in app and I had to access EngagedMD through a different portal, and having the preferred name in parenthesis after someones birth name truthfully is not trans friendly/trauma informed healthcare.

Overall Ive had a very positive experience with Dr. fisher and team. The salve app is very useful particularly the medication education and ability to track dosages and times taken. L If I were to provide feedback, it would be great to provide more context to the approach- what is an antagonist protocol and why did we select that etc. The Check List in the app caused a bit of confusion as it had several things in there that I did not need to do.

Ive enjoyed many things about spring. What Ive really struggled with is the communication. It is extremely difficult to get answers from the care team and at one point, I had been waiting for almost 3 weeks for a simple answer. This was extremely frustrating and demoralizing. It didnt make me feel like my experience was a priority to Spring and had me consider going to another clinic. Im not sure whether this experience with lack of communication is normal but during one visit another patient in the waiting room said what wall do I need to put my head through? Regarding her experience with the communication so it seems like this is a challenge for Spring. The nurses were overall helpful and I loved my doctor and everyone who saw me during my retrieval. The main challenge is with the app communication and with my patient care coordinator. Its become a second job having to track down information from Spring. I didnt feel very prepared for the overall process and feel like better communication about what to expect up front would have saved me a lot of missteps during my egg freezing. For example, they told me I need to find a 3 week period where Im not traveling or being active and I said done, I have several of those available. What they didnt explain is its all around your cycle, whether your menstruate or not, so you cant really select any random 3 weeks. This would have saved me so much time to know up front.

We were former patients of Dr Wu and that is why we chose to receive care at Spring, to follow her. I have been VERY underwhelmed at my experiences as a whole with Spring. I know youre a new care facility, but the kinks shouldnt be worked out at my time or expense. My nurse, Sarina, was awful to work with. I felt like she never actually paid attention to detail. I had to question everything. I spent extra money on medication that I didnt need because she sent it over. If this transfer fails, and I need to do another one, Ill be requesting her off my care team. I would be happy to share more information if needed. Also, Salve is HORRID. Please get rid of it and use an actually decent communication tool.

I was disappointed with the cleanliness of the facility. There were pubic hairs on the blanket that was put on me when I arrived and again on the towel where I was to put my knee for the procedure. I wasnt allowed to wear slip on shoes and ended up dusting the floors with the socks provided which were covered in hair, dust, and dirt. The nurse who inserted my IV seemed inexperienced and unsure leading to unbelievable pain in my hand. I overheard another nurse consoling her saying she was proud of her for trying something she was unsure of. I am not a $17K guinea pig. If the nurse was unsure, I wish she would have asked someone else to do it. I was in throbbing pain before and after the procedure it was miserable, and I will not do another egg retrieval at this facility.

Overall, while we find that many of the doctors, especially Dr. Rubin and Dr. Lee, to be very caring and generous with their time, and expertise, our experience with the Spring clinic has been overshadowed by the chaos, disorganization, and lack of capacity and training by the other staff. Here are just a few headlines from our recent FET experience: 1. Someone joined the FET in the middle of the procedure, even though both Dr. Rubin and my husband explicitly asked them to wait. It was disrespectful for someone to swing the door open in the middle of the procedure and a violation during a very significant time. While we appreciate that Dr. Rubin made their best efforts to protect us, we are shocked that they were not listened to by their colleagues. 2. It was extremely difficult to get in touch with our nurse throughout the process. We would often need to message multiple times, and even then call. We rarely received a response within the stated 1-2 business day SLA. 3. We are very disappointed that we were told Spring would accept our insurance only to learn that there are two separate legal entities, and that the most expensive part is out of network. And while we have 100% coverage for out-of-network care, Spring won't file the paperwork, meaning we now have fronted close to $20k to the clinic and are waiting on reimbursement. 4. For the second time in dealing with Spring, we were asked to pay thousands of dollars without seeing an invoice, which shows that the disorganization between the finance team and front desk still has not been addressed. 5. Salve is not a functioning application and that it is the keystone to communicating with our medical team is indefensible. I would encourage anyone looking for a fertility clinic to avoid one using the Salve app on that basis alone.
