I’ll start by saying my father recovered from knee surgery at your facility a couple of years ago and his experience was good, which is why we thought it would be a good idea to have my mom recover from an extended hospitalization due to her Type 1 diabetes. We could not have been more wrong. My mom was treated as a Type 2 diabetic for nearly 3 days - given the wrong medication and the wrong diet. Once I raised enough questions, the staff pivoted with her care plan but the kitchen - despite 4 complaints - continued to bring her trays filled with sugary food. One day she was given an Uncrustable and I nearly lost my mind. Her bloodwork was neglected, with a thyroid issue and kidney issue being brought up for the first time on day 7 when we were trying to get her released. All in all, I was way more stressed out the week she was there than I would have been if she was at home. The facility is not at all equipped to care for a Type 1 diabetic, which is fitting since the nursing director ( on 2 occasions) told me “diabetes is diabetes.” It was extremely insensitive and ignorant. I would hate for another family to go through that kind of experience.

For a rehab hospital I find it odd that there’s no question re: PT. We were lied to a few times when we would ask why she was always in bed (4 times in the first 4 weeks she was in a chair). We were told she’d done all these accomplishments we didn’t see evidence for. Kudos to your new head of PT Brian. He was the only one who told the truth about how little they were accomplishing with Mom. If you were being rated on only the physio dept, it would be a 1

Staff is very lazy and never communicate. I am deeply disturbed how my mother was ignored and never physically helped the way she should have been
